Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at all ranks, in all major science and engineering disciplines. Candidates with research interests in all related areas are encouraged to apply. About the University
Established in 2012, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is a public institution funded by the municipal government of Shenzhen. A major city immediately north of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Shenzhen is a successful Special Economic Zone in Southern China. As one of China’s major gateways to the world, Shenzhen has been one of the country’s fastest-growing cities in the past two decades. The city is the high-tech and manufacturing hub of southern China. As a state-level innovation city, Shenzhen has adopted self-dependent innovation as the dominant strategy for its development.
SUSTech is a pioneer in higher education reform in China. The mission of the university is to become a globally recognized institution that emphasizes academic excellence and promotes innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. The teaching language at SUSTech is bilingual, either English or Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua).
Successful candidates are expected to establish vigorous research programs in the related disciplinary areas, mentor graduate students, contribute to national and international research communities, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Senior candidates are expected to play the leadership role of research and education.
Candidates should possess doctoral degrees and demonstrate research accomplishment and/or potential in the relevant area. Applicants for the “1000 Talents Global Recruitment Program” should be a professor or a senior researcher. Applicants for the “1000 Young Talents Global Recruitment Program” should have at least three years of post-doctoral research or work experience.
Compensation and Benefits
Globally competitive salaries and start-up packages will be provided.
Qualified applicants are also encouraged to apply for the Recruitment Program of Global Experts under the state-sponsored “1000 Talents Plan” through SUSTech. Successful applicants will receive up to 10 million RMB research fund and 4.5 million RMB living allowance from the government.
